There are two "official" reasons that people may have conflicts with final exams:
This means an exam at 8:00 AM, 1:30 PM, and 7:00 PM on the
same
day
or 1:30 PM, 7:00 PM one day and 8:00 AM the next day
or 7:00
PM on one day and 8:00 AM and 1:30 PM the next day
Eight o'clock AM and 1:30 PM one day followed by 8:00 AM the next day DOES NOT count as more than 2 consecutive exams.)
In the case of more than 2 consecutive exams you are entitled to a conflict exam from one of the three courses. You need to get this figured out before the last day of lecture (Tuesday April 29). Here, size counts. The biggest class should offer the conflict and that may well be us.
This may happen when a course combines several sections and offers an exam at that time.
Or - a conflict exam for another course may be offered at the same time.
So what do we do?
The University has a set of guidelines that sets up a "pecking order" among courses and exams:
A. National and state professional exams (like the CPA, Actuarial Science, Architecture Registration Exam, etc.) have priority over campus final exams. If you are taking an exam like that on the afternoon of Friday, May 9th we are required to allow you to take a conflict exam.
B. A noncombined course examination (THAT IS US) has precedence over any combined-sections or conflict examinations for another course.
The course with the combined-sections or conflict exam that conflicts with our IB 100/101 final is required to provide you with a conflict exam. It does not matter whether our course is bigger than theirs or not.
Size does count when two courses, both offering combined section or conflict exams are duking it out for the same exam time, but that is NOT us.
By The end of the last lecture, Tuesday April 29:

I will try to schedule a time that fits for as many people as possible and contact you via e-mail and/or phone by Wednesday, April 30 to let you know when and where the conflict exam will be given.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation. I hope we all make it through the exam season with academic success, ready to have a great summer.
