Completion of this assignment should help you achieve the expectations of the one or more of the learner objectives of Lecture 18, Biotechnology: Recombinant DNA, and PCR , Lecture 19, Biotechnology: DNA Analysis, and Lecture 20, Biotechnology: Human Genome Project & Gene Therapy.

Find a web site that deals with cloning, stem cell research, gene therapy, or some form of biotechnology. This should be a resource that could be used by your classmates to understand one or more of the topics discussed in the class.

The links to the left can be good starting points for your search for a web page, or you are welcome to set out on your own search.

Follow the directions below to complete your assignment.

  • Write a review and provide a *substantial explanation of the biological content of your web article for your classmates, making connections to the ideas that we are discussing in class - DNA, protein synthesis, gene expression, biotechnology, etc. (about 300 words)

  • Post your review and explanation to the appropriate forum in your discussion or lab instructor's section of Moodle well in advance of the due date.

  • Include working link to web page you used as references.

Hint: Some search engines present links to web pages in a frame that gives the address of the search engine and not of the page you wish to link to. To get the correct address ask your browser to open the frame in a new window which will show the correct address.

Links to news stories from some sources expire after a brief period.

  • Read the third Moodle assignment of at least one other student from your discussion or lab section.

  • Write a *substantial response (about 150 words) and post it as a "Reply" to the other student's posting.

Before completing your Web Crossing assignments be sure to understand the Biology 100/101 Policy on Academic Integrity.

Your third Moodle assignment will be evaluated using this rubric.
