The
Molecular Biophysics Training Program at the University of Illinois
in Urbana-Champaign
|
FACILITIES
Modern, well equipped laboratories are maintained for all
faculty on the Molecular Biophysics Training Grant. Design and
construction of state-of-the-art equipment are on-going traditions
in the program (for further information, see under individual
faculty and
lab home pages). In addition, the University houses
national centers for NMR and ESR spectroscopy, for magnetic
resonance imaging, for fluorescence and for Computational Biology.
The Biotechnology Center, contains a Genetic Engineering Facility,
a Center for Electron Microscopy, a Flow Cytometry Facility,
the Immunological Resource Center, a Transgenic Animals Facility,
and a Fermentation Facility. Easily accessible departmental
and University computer facilities, include state of the art
molecular graphics display facilities, and work station suites.
Molecular Biophysics faculty actively contribute to the growing
interface between biology and computational sciences through
interaction with the National
Center for Supercomputing Applications
(which includes a Computational
Biology Group), and the Beckman
Institute. The
University Library is the third-largest public university
library in the nation, and the Biological
Library maintains an excellent collection of books
and current research journals.
