Mission
The mission of the Illinois Biophysics Society is to improve the lifestyle, educational experience, and future career opportunities for graduate and postdoctoral researchers in biophysics at the University of Illinois. We achieve this mission by:
- Sponsoring & planning campus events which increase awareness & recognition for graduate & postdoctoral research in biophysics.

- Semi-Annual Newsletter
- Sponsoring & planning social gatherings which build a cohesive and friendly network of Biophysics researchers on campus.
- Annual picnic

- Providing outreach to the local community and to our own members.
- Speak test preparation
- K-12 science outreach
- Advocating for students’ rights in all matters and acting as omsbudsmen during the grievance process.
- GEO representation
- Arbitration of disputes
- Collecting industrial, government, & academic contacts and other career-building resources.

The members of IBS represent diverse fields and areas of interest, but we remain cohesive in our mission to add to the great legacy of biophysics research at the University of Illinois.

- A message from the Director of (CB)2:
- Welcome to the IBS web site! The Center for Biophysics and Computational Biology is a vibrant and diverse enterprise, and this is reflected in the many interests of our student body. The members of the Illinois Biophysics Society are working hard behind the scenes to provide us with symposia and social gatherings, to help with student recruiting, and to keep us informed with their newsletter. These are important activities, reminding us that we are a large family with common goals as well as far-ranging interests.
