Rob and Julie, together with Jane Kondev (Brandeis) have recently completed writing the book "Physical Biology of the Cell", to be published by Garland Press this fall. The aim of this book is to develop quantitative intuition about cells and the macromolecules of life. The book makes use of simple physical models to provide a mathematical description of life's processes. Their talk will report on how quantitative ideas can be used to explore some of biology's greatest themes.
