General: Basic and applied population, community, and evolutionary ecology; statistical ecology; restoration ecology.

Current Specific Areas: Effects of ecological disturbance on conservation of avian populations and communities; comparative demography of temperate and tropical birds; evolution of life history traits - especially dispersal and clutch size; temporal variation and historical effects on community structure; demography and conservation of small populations; ecology of edges; ecology of urbanization.
