Welcome to the Page! Below are a number of links that take you to relevant things about me. Enjoy!

Classes: My main teaching interest is in the ways that plants make a living, and survive, in all the contrasting hostile environments that can be found on earth. At the undergrad level, I have developed an Organismal Biology course centered around the design of plants. With Prof. Carol Augspurger, I also teach the undergrad/grad course in Field Ecology, based around a 10 day field trip to somewhere new in the US at Spring Break, or sometimes, after graduation. Beginning in the Spring, 2007, I will be involved in teaching Organismal Biology for the new, Integrative Biology Honors option. Research: Just as my teaching has emphasized form and function, so does my research. As part of an NSF sponsored Mangrove Biocomplexity Project, the lab is emphasizing the physiological aspects of mangrove trees that allows them to make their living in nutrient-limited, off-shore tropical environments. The most recent addition by way of web pages, perhaps suitable for general perusal, is the Erratic Crab, the electronic newsletter of the biocomplexity project.

My research index will take you to a couple of other links summarizing what I do.

And...

Students can have interesting field experiences: Whether undergrad or grad, students are involved in research at all levels in my lab. Read here the story of one undergraduate who graduated in 2000.
