"I did research on soybeans during the spring and summer of 2003. I started in the lab in the spring. During the summer I was a part of the Undergraduate Mentoring in Environmental Biology program, and I researched microclimate changes in soybeans caused by elevated levels of CO2 and how that affected insect herbivory. I found that elevated CO2 does change the microclimate of soybean leaves and this in turn increases insect herbivory on the crops. The project was done both in the lab and out in the SoyFACE field on South Farms. It was a really good experience and a great opportunity. I learned a lot about working on research projects from start to finish and got a lot of hands on experience." -- Cathy Yu
