I completed my undergraduate degree in International Development and Environmental Science at the University of Toronto, Canada. I originally started my masters at UIUC with an interest in the impacts of how nitrogen-fixing trees restore fertility to degraded soils. Under Dr. Feng Sheng Hu and Dr. Jeff Dawson, I have broadened this interest. My current masters research will look at how green alder (a nitrogen fixing tree) and salmon contribute to lake productivity in southwestern Alaska. I hope to discover more about the relative importance of each of these sources of nitrogen to overall lake productivity.
