Hot Air Balloons & Ice Cream 6-22-95

Here we are at a BOAST Science lesson making hot air balloons. We made them out of tissue paper. Each group got to pick the colors they wanted their balloon to be. The balloons were made out of eight panels of tissue paper.

First we glued the top and bottom piece of each panel together. Then we glued the panels together to make the sides of the balloon. We used hot air dryers to help the glue dry fast.

While the glue was drying, we made ice cream out of milk, but Robert is writing about that.

After we ate the ice cream, we used a hair dyer to inflate the balloon and the hot air made it rise. We had a contest to see whose balloon rose the highest.
