Field Trip to the Macon County Museum complex in Decatur

What did we see inside the museum?

Harnesses, saddles and other things you might have found in a barn.

A model of a water mill.

The interior of a cabin.

Tools the people might have used.

A rope bed.
What else did we see?

We went to school in a one-room school house.

A bathtub! Ma Sherman, you must be kidding!

Pa Sherman was our teacher

We saw a courthouse where Abraham Lincoln once tried a case when he was a lawyer.
As part of the field trip, we visited a cemetary. Some of Ma Sherman's relatives are buried in the cemetery!

We went to a cemetary where we made a rubbing of a gravestone

Examining the finished rubbing. What does it say?

BOAST volunteer Avram makes the rubbing while BOAST Program Manager, Bobbi, keeps the paper from blowing away.
