4 credit hours plus 1 credit hour in IB 199

Home Page

Are you taking Integrative Biology 150 during the Spring Semester 2008? If so, we would like to invite you to join a program in collaborative learning called the Merit Workshop Program.

The Merit Workshop Program is for high-achieving students like you who are planning a career in science. The workshop centers around small group sessions where students work together on challenging problems. The workshop problems are based on the same material covered in the lectures. They focus heavily on problem solving and are designed to stretch your abilities to the fullest extent. The group activities and the selected problems introduce both concepts and academic practices that will be important for IB 150 and later in future classes and career settings.

How the Program Works

Students planning to participate in IB 150 Merit Workshops must enroll in the IB 150 Lecture (10-10:50 MWF, Lincoln Hall Theater) and one Workshop Discussion section from the list below. Students enrolled in the Merit Program will not enroll in a regular IB 150 discussion section. In place of the regular one hour per week discussion, students will attend two, two-hour Workshops.

Students will enroll in IB 199 for 1 credit hour in addition to the 4 credit hours in IB 150.

  • Workshop/Discussion Section AD3 TU & TH 1-2:50 PM 306 NHB
  • Workshop/Discussion Section AD4 TU & TH 3-4:50 PM 306 NHB
  • Workshop/Discussion Section AD2 M & W 3-4:50 PM 306 NHB
