Wednesday, April 30, 2008 2:00 - 2:50 PM Examination III

Each quiz will count 20 points toward the overall grade. 15 points will be set aside to give credit for class attendance (see below for details).

Total points in the course: 300

Exams 1, 2 and 3 will be scheduled during regular class hours.

Makeup quizzes and exams will be given only in case of illness or other emergency. A letter from the McKinley Health Center or the Emergency Dean is mandatory. The student must contact the Course Coordinator (Dr. Bagchi) within 48 h of the scheduled quiz or exam. No exceptions would be made if the student fails to notify him within this time period.

E. ACCESSING LECTURE MATERIALS IN THE WEB

Instructors will place some of their lecture materials at a web site for MCB 413. The web site address is www.life.uiuc.edu/mcb/413. The web site link can also be found from the Life Science Courses page or MIP courses page. The web site is password protected. The log will be announced in class.

F. GRADING POLICY

MCB 413 is graded on the basis of total points accumulated throughout the semester. Plus-minus system of grading will be applied. Historically grades approximate the distribution shown below.

A B C D
25% 35% 35% 5%

No distinction will be made between graduate and undergraduate students.

G. ATTENDANCE POLICY

Students are expected to attend all lectures. Attendance will be recorded in each class. A total of 15 points will be set aside to give credit for regular class attendance. In order to qualify for this credit a student needs to attend at least 37 out of 41 classes offered during the semester. A student missing more than 4 classes during the semester will forfeit all credit for class attendance.

H. STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES

To be assured that disability-related concerns are properly addressed from the beginning, students with disabilities who require reasonable accommodations to participate in this class are asked to see Dr. Bagchi as soon possible.
