Bench to Bedside Seminars in Reproductive Medicine
The Bench to Bedside seminar series is a an annual meeting of clinicians and basic scientists with a mutual interest in reproductive biology. The seminars have two clinician/bioscientists who describe a current medical problem, the available techniques for diagnosis and treatment, an overview of research being done in their area of expertice and how this research impacts on present or future diagnosis and treatment. The two presentations are followed by a discussion session. In addition to faculty already involved in the Reproductive Biology Training Program, residents and phyicians in departments such as Ob/Gyn; Endocrinology; Urology; Surgery; Pathology; and Oncology attend the seminars.
Seminars are open to all reproductive biology faculty and students, clinicians from throughout the community, medical students and any other interested persons. CME credits are available.
Objectives of this seminar series:
The basic scientists and clinicians become acquainted and learn about one another's research interests.
Basic scientists become more familiar with clinical problems related to their research, may develop new research ideas, and possibly have increased funding opportunities from clinically related research endeavors.
Clinicians learn of cutting edge research in their areas and may initiate research projects related to new knowledge.
Joint research projects between the clinical and basic science faculty may result.
The Graduate College, College of Medicine, Medical Scholars Program and Residency programs also stand to benefit from a collaboration.
The Bench to Bedside Series is presented by:
