Development of marsupial skin


In collaboration with Drs. Cristina Strong and Julie Segre (NIH), we are studying the development of the skin barrier in marsupials (which is accelerated relative to eutherian mammals).  Learning more about formation of the skin barrier has important implications for the care of premature infants. 

Developing the pig dewclaw as

a model for human digit regeneration


In collaboration with Drs. Jo Ann Cameron and Matt Wheeler (UIUC), we are characterizing the development of the pig dewclaw with the hope of developing the dewclaw as a model for human digit regeneration.
