General Interest - Development of algorithmic mechanisms capable of mimicking cognitive processes of animals, such as making decisions, learning from experience, and communicating with others. An intricate understanding of the physiology of simple nervous systems such as those of the Pleurobranchaea, and subsequent empirical mimicry of the behaviors manifesting from such nervous systems, provides impetus in the direction of replicating the behavioral mechanisms of progressively more complicated organisms.
