Policy on microscope usage:

1. Booking Time

We are pleased to open the Time-lapse microscope to outside users. Due to the nature of the experiments conducted in the X-lab, we can not open the time for an outsider beyond 72 hours. For example, if today is Monday, then an outside user can only book a time between Monday and Thursday, he can not book time on Friday or later. This policy also applies to the weekends and holidays as well.

2. TC equipment

We will offer pipet tips (yellow and blue) to an outsider. There will be a set of pipetmans by the scope. We will offer a limit access of our TC equipments to outside users. He may temporally store his samples in the low incubator, but he must make sure that the incubator will be promptly closed due to the fact that we isolate and culture very sensitive primary myocyte and neuron in the incubator. We will not open the hood to anyone to prevent cross-contamination.

3. File storage.

We will routinely clean the harddrive to ensure the system running smoothly for time-lapse experiments. Both image and movie files will be cleaned from the computer. Currently we clean the drive every 2-3 month. Depend on the usage of the machine, we may change the clean up policy.
